ArtWalk & Summer Stroll: Date Night in the YAM Courtyard

Get your first look at YAM’s newest exhibition, Mark Earnhart & Jodi Lightner: Suspended Intervals will open in the Montana Gallery and guests can meet the artists! Mark Earnhart and Jodi Lightner will be at the museum from 5 – 6 PM. It’s also the last month to see The Generosity of Miriam Sample which closes on August 18. Plus! The Visible Vault will be open and guests can meet our new Artist-In-Residence, Krista Leigh Pasini.

As a thank you to our museum members, each active YAM member will receive a free drink ticket that can be used at the YAM bar for a cocktail or mocktail!

First Friday at the YAM

Featured in YAM’s Montana Gallery is Willem Volkersz’s exhibition The View From Here.

The YAM is open late on ArtWalk until 8 PM.

A cash bar will be available from 5 – 7 PM.

Montana-based artist Willem Volkersz (b. 1939) is a significant contemporary artist known for his neon and paint-by-number-style installations. He was a pioneer in the use of neon in art and developed early and sustaining loves for photography, travel, American roadside culture, Americana, and Folk and Visionary Art.

First Friday at the YAM | May 3, 2024

• First Sewing Session for the I Remember Project: Commissioned artwork by Elizabeth Stone | 4 – 8 PM

Join artist Elizabeth Stone on First Friday to create a community work of art! Be a part of our first sewing bee and help sew together negatives and slides that will become a large sculptural work and part of the YAM permanent collection.

–Kids are welcome during FAM at the YAM from 4 – 6 PM

–Adults welcome during First Friday from 5 – 8 PM 

• Live Poetry Typing | 5 – 7 PM

Museum writer-in-residence Anne Holub is composing and typing poems on postcards with a typewriter during First Friday at the YAM. Stop by to pick out a postcard and get a unique poem to take home!

Sarah Brown is a certified yoga instructor with 15 years of teaching experience. She teaches yoga at the Billings Family YMCA and Montana State University Billings. She also hosts Morning Edition and Field Days on Yellowstone Public Radio.

Yellowstone Art Museum Accepting Vendors for WinterFair 2022 Arts and Craft Market

The Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) is accepting vendor applications for WinterFair 2022, an Arts and Craft Market taking place at the museum on December 2 and 3, 2022. The opening evening, Friday, December 2, will coincide with the annual Holiday Stroll and December ArtWalk in downtown Billings from 4-8 PM. Shoppers wanting to avoid the crowds on Friday night will be welcomed the following Saturday, December 3 from 10 AM to 3 PM. 

Vendors will range from fine art, fiber work, artisan foods and body products, ceramics, and more. All goods must be handmade. The YAM will also offer deluxe gift wrapping, festive activities for visitors of all ages, and seasonal refreshments. WinterFair is a great opportunity to start your holiday shopping locally with one-of-a-kind gifts that directly support our community.
