event resources
Sign up to volunteer to help. We need volunteers to help wristband and greet attendees at each of the Alive After 5 events. Volunteer shifts are 2 hours each (start at 4:30pm or 6:00pm) and include a free beverage & food voucher to use within the event and a free $3 wristband (for volunteers over 21 years old) so you can enjoy a drink should you wish to. All volunteers are provided with and any items needed to perform position
Our events wouldn’t be possible without the help of awesome volunteers like you.
Q: I Thought these concerts were free, why do I have to buy a wristband?
A: Admission is free to the public, however, if you intend to consume and purchase alcohol within the Alive After 5 street closure you must purchase a wristband at one of the purple pop-up tents. Wristbands are $3 and require a valid form of ID for purchase. Water, soda, and other non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased without a wristband.
Q: Where does the wristband revenue go?
A: The revenue generated through wristband sales at each Alive After 5 helps sustain the coordination and facilitation of downtown beautification projects, public art projects, and other free community events coordinated by the Downtown Billings Association (DBA) throughout the year.
Q: If I am clearly over 21, will I still need to show an ID?
A: Our organization’s policy is to card every individual purchasing a wristband. This policy protects the host location and their staff, our staff, and event volunteers. If you forgot your ID, you are still welcome to enjoy the free concert and purchase food, water, soda and/or other non-alcoholic beverages.
Q: Are kids welcome to attend?
A: Alive After 5 is an event for all ages. The DBA offers a free kid centric scavenger hunt at each Alive After 5. You can get a scavenger hunt sheet at one of the purple event tents. In addition, every host location sells non-alcoholic beverage options for attendees. FREE bottled water is available for attendees at all the purple DBA event tents.
Q: Will there be food trucks?
A: At least one outside food option (ie. a food truck or a special food tent from the host location directly) is scheduled for each Alive After 5 event. You are encouraged to enjoy dine-in or takeout from one of the many downtown restaurants. Yes, you may bring outside food into the Alive After 5 outdoor event closure.
Q: Can I bring my own alcohol to Alive After 5?
A: No. Outside alcohol is not allowed inside an Alive After 5 event closure. Any alcohol consumed at the event must be purchased within the Alive After 5 event closure at one of the host location satellite bars. You are, however, welcome to bring you own non-alcoholic beverages.
Q: Can I bring my dog to Alive After 5?
A: No. We know!!! We’re bummed too but BUT dogs, cats, and other small animals are not allowed at the Alive After 5 or any other large public event within city limits. The city ordinance is for the safety of all including your dogs! AND while we don’t make the rules, we totally understand the city’s ordinance. Events like the Alive After 5 are loud and crowded and can be stressful for a dog. Not to mention these events take place on asphalt that can be over 100* degrees in temperature on a hot summer day and harmful to a dog’s paws.
We host several large community events throughout the year including Alive After 5, Strawberry Festival, HarvestFest, St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celtic Fair, Holiday Stroll, etc.
Downtown Billings is the final booking party, however, the decision makers for the entertainment booking selection process are both our Events Director and the Host location(s). Both entities will discuss the options available and contact the bands for booking.
Please complete this Event Entertainment Inquiry form if you are interested in performing at one of the Downtown Billings events.
- Host applications are released in January and are due in February. Any DBA member business can apply to be a host HOWEVER businesses that ARE NOT bars/breweries/restaurants MUST find a co-host with a catering/alcohol license.
- Host fee is $5000
Should you be interested in hosting please look at the 2025 Alive After 5 Host Application and confirm that your DBA Membership is current (Memberships run annually July 1 – June 30).
If you are interested in sponsoring a future Alive After 5 season or any other downtown Billings event, please email our Communications Director, Lindsay at LRichardson@downtownbillings.com and she can share current sponsorship opportunities.
Our sponsors are amazing, and we like to talk about them often. Their sponsorships allow us to cover the costs associated with these concerts and other large community events. Sponsorships allow us to make these events a success and memorable for the whole community year after year.
