April ArtWalk at Cushing Terrell

Cushing Terrell will be hosting Judd Thompson and Tyrel Johnson for their April ArtWalk event. Light refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there!

Born in 1983, Judd Thompson spent his formative years growing up on the Crow Indian Reservation, gaining inspiration from the art he was surrounded by in his parents’ business, The Custer Battlefield Trading Post. Judd draws inspiration from Western artists, especially Joseph Henry Sharp. Judd uses his passion for color theory to capture the essence of Crow Country in a variety of media. After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 2010 with a degree in Art & Art History, Judd moved to Billings, MT where he currently resides. Best known for his painting titled “Horse called Paint” that was featured as a Pendleton Blanket. Pendleton has recently added Judd’s blanket to their permanent Artist collection. Judd has worked with interior design companies and has been featured in numerous publications such as Mountain Living Magazine, Big Sky Journal and Cowgirl Magazine.

“Art…art…art” is a common phrase amongst Tyrel Johnson’s many siblings.  It was at the center of their lives. His father’s foundry was where they all worked.  Adept at casting and monumental sculpting; Tyrel chose to study anatomy and design for many years before taking his shot at his childhood dream. His elegant fusion and masterful execution in wood, bronze, stone, glass, and ceramic have caught the eye of collectors and editors alike. He is genuinely excited to see what comes of his passion for sculpture after a lifetime of placing his ideas in these various mediums. His first solo showing was in 2018. He has since been featured in Mountain Living, Big Sky Journal, Cowboys and Indians, Elite Equestrian, Fine Art Connoisseur, and Colorado Homes, Western Art and Architecture, Western Equestrian, Elegant Living by WRJ Design, and Foundations by JLF. He has had the honor of being a guest speaker at the Hemingway Conference and at the unveiling of the book Cockeyed Happy. He was awarded best of show 3D-Out West Art Show 2022 as well as best of show and people’s choice-Sculpture in The Hills 2021.

April 5 – May 25, 2024

Opening Reception Friday, April 5, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM during ArtWalk with small culinary bites by Chef Ashley Woodward.

This exhibition is about making art as a sustained creative journey. The places she paints are transitory and “nowhere.” Through painting, she gives those places meaning; they become permanent and “everything”.

“Wherever you end up is the “everywhere,” and in making art, everything.” Sheila Miles

Sheila Miles currently resides in Arizona. Her life and artistic practice are continually influenced by her 26 years living in Montana.

Barefoot in the Park

Barefoot in the Park is one of the most beloved comedies of Neil Simon. Newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter are over the moon to begin their life together in their new apartment in Manhattan. Paul is a straight-laced lawyer and Corie a romantic free-spirit; nevertheless, opposites attract and the two are wild about each other. Corie decides to introduce her conservative widowed mother to their eccentric, bohemian neighbor. A wild night ensues, one that highlights just how different Corie and Paul are. The young couple must learn how to accept and embrace their differences as they learn that marriage is no easy walk in the park.
