Art Students League: Reverie

What does it mean to find your voice? In this exhibition, the MSUB art students explore the development of artistic style while building a conceptual message. These emerging artists each bring their own experience and perspective to the exhibition through a variety of media and materials. Expressing their individual viewpoints, the collective builds a conversation between the artworks, creating space for introspection and creative reverie.

Featuring the artists:
Emmit Bartsch
Isabelle Carrol
Jaedon Hopson
Karmen Joki
Nathan Levine
Blake Tyler McCrary
Kaylin Millsap
Nathaniel Parry
Magnolia West

Art Students’ League is a collective of art students from Montana State University Billings.
The collective is a safe space for students of any major to create, explore, and enjoy art in a community of art makers. The MSUB Art Students’ League sponsors activities such as artist demonstrations, workshops, and lectures. They have frequently exhibited during Billings Art Walk.

They are excited and grateful to Kirks’ Grocery for letting them hold their first pop-up exhibition.

Sheila Miles: Nowhere & Everywhere Exhibition Opening Reception

Sheila Miles: Nowhere & Everywhere

April 5 – May 25, 2024

Opening Reception Friday, April 5, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM during ArtWalk with small culinary bites by Chef Ashley Woodward.

Kirks’ Grocery proudly presents Sheila Miles: Nowhere & Everywhere, showcasing her recent work. This exhibition is about making art as a sustained creative journey. The places she paints are transitory and “nowhere.” Through painting, she gives those places meaning; they become permanent and “everything”.

“Wherever you end up is the “everywhere,” and in making art, everything.” Sheila Miles

Sheila Miles currently resides in Arizona. Her life and artistic practice are continually influenced by her 26 years living in Montana.

Sheila Miles will be at the opening reception.

Jason Jam Horizon Exhibition Opening & Reception

This exhibition will feature the work of Jason Jam from April 5 – May 25, 2024
Opening Reception Friday, April 5, 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM, during Billings ArtWalk.
Kirks’ Grocery is proud to present Horizon, an exhibition of new work in pencil, gouache, and watercolor by Jason Jam. Jam’s recent work in pencil uses subtle value shifts to create images of wonder and mystery. Millions of carefully arranged soft pencil marks have gone into these unusual images which take dozens of hours to create. Horizon also reveals Jam’s newest colorful landscapes. The artist has used unconventional tools and quick brush strokes to apply vibrant gouache over layered washes of rich watercolor. The effect is to draw the viewer into his world. Truly a sight to behold.

Barefoot in the Park

Barefoot in the Park is one of the most beloved comedies of Neil Simon. Newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter are over the moon to begin their life together in their new apartment in Manhattan. Paul is a straight-laced lawyer and Corie a romantic free-spirit; nevertheless, opposites attract and the two are wild about each other. Corie decides to introduce her conservative widowed mother to their eccentric, bohemian neighbor. A wild night ensues, one that highlights just how different Corie and Paul are. The young couple must learn how to accept and embrace their differences as they learn that marriage is no easy walk in the park.
