About The Sourdough Bagel

The Sourdough Bagel is THRILLED to bring the Yellowstone Valley hand-crafted, slow-fermented, kettle-boiled sourdough bagels. Our “old-school” process using 5 simple ingredients results in flavorful, crackly crusted, and chewy bagels. We also make some pretty incredible cream cheeses. We all have to eat… Eat Something Good!

About City Brew

Born of our desire to provide the best coffee experience in the region, City Brew Coffee opened its first store in Billings, Montana, in December 1998.

Over the next 18 years, our company has grown to include 17 brick and mortar retail locations, as well as six kiosks across Montana, Wyoming & North Dakota.

With the acquisition of Colter Coffee in 2015, we are thrilled to be opening our new state-of-the-art roasting facility in Kalispell, Montana. As we bring this new facility on-line, it will provide additional capacity to support our existing roasting operation in Billings, Montana.

In addition to our new roasting facility in Kalispell, we will be opening three new brick and mortar retail locations in 2017. We will be opening our first store in Great Falls, Montana, our third location in Bozeman, Montana and our second location in Casper, Wyoming.

Our focus is one of consistent recognition as an industry leader in both product quality and customer service. As a result, we empower our staff to delight each and every customer every day, with every cup they serve or every bean they sell. Simply stated, our goal is to be the best at what we do.

About Buffalo Block Steakhouse at the Rex

Well, we couldn’t just let our favorite steakhouse slip away.

As a family, we’ve been longtime visitors of the Rex as long as any of us can remember. When it was time to get together for a good steak, it had always been our go-to place. Like many others in the Billings community, we’ve always appreciated the iconic building as a little piece of the past that we could enjoy whenever we wanted to.

That’s why when the Rex closed down we really missed it. The more we thought about it, the more we thought that the Rex still had plenty of potential and we knew it.

So we decided to do something about it.

What we thought would be some quick updates, ended up a complete internal remodel. New venting, a completely new floor plan, and brand new decor — honoring our past and embracing our future. We can’t wait to reveal the new Buffalo Block at the Old Rex — or, as we like to call it: your new favorite steakhouse.

So what’s a Buffalo Block, anyway?

In the late 1800s, towns and cities in the United States faced a common problem: the inconvenience of unpaved streets and the pervasive mud and odor that went with them. In 1900, everything changed: the buffalo block, a cheap, water-resistant, and nearly-indestructible brick, was developed. Soon, settlements across the country were paved with them, and Montana Avenue and the town of Billings were no exception.

Although buffalo block remnants are fewer and further between now that we’ve long since adopted asphalt paving methods, we unearthed plenty of buffalo blocks on the old patio and scattered throughout the building when we began our remodel of the Rex in 2018. And one day, while doing a walkthrough of the renovation, our granddaughter saw a brick and said, “Well, that would be a cool name for a restaurant!”

“Hmm,” we thought. “She has a point.”

Not just because of those old paving bricks, but also because “Buffalo Block” seemed to capture decades of history, harkening back to the days of Buffalo Bill and when the hotel bar went by the name of “Buffalo Bar.”

To make a long story short, the name sort of just stuck.

So cheers to a new legacy — while honoring our rich history.

About Chalet Market

Julie and Ryan Johnson purchased the iconic Billings Chalet Market in October 2017.  The original 24th St. West Chalet Market opened in 1981 by Dean Cromwell whose three generations of family made it the locals’ favorite.  Best known for great subs, soups and salads, Dean built Chalet Market into a classic delicatessen. Julie and Ryan are working hard to grow that same great reputation.  Chalet Market also continues to showcase amazing Made in Montana gift items from across the state!

In June of 2020 the Johnsons opened their second location in the lower level of the First Interstate Bank Building at 401 N. 31st. St. and have been reaching out to offer the diverse Chalet Market menu to the downtown community and is even delivering to the Heights. Chalet Market Downtown Deli offers an expansive seating area and to make it efficient, they offer 1-hour parking validation in the connected parking garage to make grabbing a quick lunch easy.

Chalet Market Downtown Deli also offers a great breakfast menu that is simple, satisfying and built to grab & go!  From made-to-order breakfast sandwiches, satisfying breakfast burritos to signature house recipe huckleberry scones, muffins and avocado toast, you won’t go wrong with a morning meal at Chalet Market Downtown Deli.

Chalet Market also offers the same great catering options from the downtown store.  Known for Montana Made salami platters to veggie and fruit trays, the downtown location will cover your catering needs. On-demand!

About Velvet Cravings

Cupcakes are not just a dessert, they are an endearment. That’s how it is in my family. I grew up with not only a love for baking but also a love for eating delicious cake.

While I’ve always had a passion for baking, I have a bigger passion for family and friends and creating something that is the very best for both.

That’s what our cupcakes are – a nostalgic treat made the way I know they should be made. With the very best ingredients, fresh each day, handcrafted with care, and baked with love.

Have a great cupcake day!

About Rock Creek Coffee Roasters

Want a great cup of coffee that’s officially “Made in Montana”?

Get the best coffee in Billings at Rock Creek Coffee Roasters. Visit us at our Downtown Billings location, order your favorite coffee online or just stop by and say “Hi!”

As fellow coffee drinkers, we moved from California to Montana and fell in love with the beautiful scenery, friendly people… and the thought of owning our own coffee shop in this wonderful area. Our dream came true, and we opened Rock Creek Coffee Roasters in 2004.

This was our opportunity to provide the best cup of coffee possible. And that meant roasting all of our coffee in-house. Yes, this takes a lot of time and work, but it’s essential to ensure the quality of our beans.

Did you know that coffee begins to lose flavor soon after roasting?

That’s why we roast in small batches right here in our shop… so you get to enjoy the true flavor of the coffee while it’s still fresh.

Plus, we are very careful about purchasing the best coffee beans from sustainable, high-quality suppliers worldwide.

After all, why would we go through all that trouble and not get the most out of our coffee beans?

As you can tell, we are passionate about coffee. We only offer high-quality products that we are proud to sell and that help others in some way (this is one of the reasons we won the Golden Bean Silver Medal).

We also believe in being an integral part of the community and working with local businesses and organizations. You’ll see us participating in regional charity events, giving back to the community and even creating joint products with our fellow entrepreneurs… like our coffee soaps!

Check out all of our different coffees and let us know which ones you like best! You can order online here, or stop by the store. We’ll welcome you with a friendly Montana smile and a fresh cup of coffee you’ll love!

See you soon!
