The Road to El Dorado
We very excited to be announcing the first film in our ongoing Movie Buffs series to be playing at the historic Babcock Theatre in 2025! Movie Buffs is a series focused on getting a younger audience excited about cinema by exposing them to fascinating classic and contemporary films, notable for their unique visual styles, artistic processes, and cultural impact, and this month’s FREE ADMISSION film will be Bibo Bergeron and Don Paul’s unforgettable 2000 animation adventure, THE ROAD TO EL DORADO, presented by TDS Telecommunications LLC! Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, THE ROAD TO EL DORADO is a fantastic film that puts together a blend of comedy, fantasy, adventure, and musical genres, resulting in an excellent story of the mythical city of gold, told with a striking visual style and an awesome soundtrack from Elton John!
Two swindling companions named Miguel and Tulio stow themselves away onto a ship after a failed con results in them being ran out of the Spanish port. A storm soon comes along and the two are cast away in a lifeboat, later washing up on the shores of El Dorado, the fabled city of gold. Entering the city, Miguel and Tulio quickly get in over their heads when the city’s inhabitants mistake them for gods, leading to them cooking up a massive con in the form of untold riches and luxury!
