The City of Billings and Downtown Billings, in partnership with the contractor Montana Lines Inc., are hosting an open house on Thursday, April 10, to update the public on the status of the Downtown Billings Two-way Restoration project. This event will provide an opportunity to learn more about the project and its anticipated construction schedule, ask questions, and view visuals of the planned improvements.

The purpose of the Downtown Billings Two-way Restoration project is to help improve accessibility, safety, and connectivity in downtown Billings by:
- Resurfacing and restoring several one-way streets to their original, two-way configuration.
- Adding new facilities for bicyclists including two-way cycle tracks and buffered bike lanes.
- Modifying intersections and upgrading traffic signals.
- Installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades including curb ramps and ADA-compliant push-button devices.
Preliminary construction activities, which include electrical and ADA work, started in the fall of 2024 and will continue this spring. Road resurfacing work and the one-way to two-way street reconfiguration is planned for this summer. Two-way traffic is expected to go into effect in September after crews apply new pavement markings to the roadway, install updated signage, and activate permanent traffic signals.
The open house will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Downtown Billings Association (102 North 29th Street, Billings, MT 59101). This event will be an informal, open house format. Attendees are encouraged to come and go whenever is convenient for them during the scheduled time. Light refreshments will be provided.
