Hooligan’s Sports Bar is the next to host an Alive After 5 concert. Their event is on Thursday, June 23rd. The Hooligan’s June 23 show includes the band, The Bucky Beaver Ground Grippers, a longtime Billings favorite and no stranger to Alive After 5.
Enjoy the summer weather and live music. The soundstage will stand below Skypoint, allowing for plenty of room for you and 1200 of your friends to dance and sing and mingle.
The Hooligan’s Alive After 5 shows are always a good time and always produce a large crowd so we added 2nd Avenue North to this year’s street closure for both the June 23 and July 14 concerts. That addition will ensure there’s plenty of space for everyone who wants to come.
The Alive After 5 summer concert series is in its 19th season and is presented by our team at the Downtown Billings Alliance and Valley Credit Union. The weekly concerts take place outdoors at a different downtown location Thursday evenings from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, June 16 to August 4, 2022.
Event Admission
Admission is free to the public, however, those 21 and older wishing to consume alcohol will need to purchase a wristband for $2.
Each week a limited number of $10 V.I.P wristbands can be purchased Monday through Wednesday either visit our DBA office (116 N. 29th Street) or call us at (406) 294-5060 to purchase space in the V.I.P. Area. V.I.P. includes seating, tables, free ice-cold water, and easy access to one of the event bar locations. All remaining V.I.P. wristbands will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis each Thursday on site at the Alive After 5 V.I.P. tent.
The Band
Bucky Beaver Ground Grippers
The Bucky Beaver Ground Grippers, named after a golf shoe invented in the early 1940s, was originated by Joe Link and George Devries while playing a round of golf at Pryor Creek in 1992. Four original members, Joe Link, George Devries, Kirk Brumfield and Rich Lutton still comprise the band and John Link was later replaced by Jason Foster. The band has entertained thousands over the years including the Prince of Monaco and opened for such acts as Tracy Lawrence, Mark Chestnut, Kentucky Headhunters, Confederate Railroad, , Montgomery Gentry, Little Texas, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Restless Heart and Diamond Rio just to name a few. The
band plays a wide variety of music ranging from George Strait to Led Zeppelin, from Amarillo by Morning to ZZ top, from funk to blues. The Bucky Beaver Ground Grippers try to play whatever gets folks up and dancing!

Alive After 5 is coordinated annually by the DBA. The DBA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is downtown vitality and economic development.
