City Of Billings Parks & Recreation Department
The City of Billings Parks and Recreation Department is completing renovations to downtown’s landmark Skypoint. The third round of maintenance began Sunday, September 15, and will wrap up no later than Friday, Sept. 20, 2024. During this final stage, new sails will be installed, along with electrical upgrades. Previous touch ups since work began in September of 2023 include removal of the old sails, cleaning, and fresh paint. The 22-year-old landmark needed maintenance after years of exposure to wind, rain, sunshine and snow.
IMPORTANT TRAFFIC NOTICE:
Broadway Avenue and 2nd Avenue North will be open for parking, but the intersection under Skypoint will be closed to thru traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. (See map below).
Barricades, signage, and caution tape will offer guidance and protection, but we urge drivers and pedestrians to take caution while traveling near near Skypoint.
The City Hall parking garage will be accessible by turning right onto 2nd Ave North from North 27th Street. Signage and cones will guide drivers in and out of the garage. The parking garage will be reduced to one entrance and one exit. (See map below).
Please note, drivers should NOT attempt to turn left onto 2nd Ave North from North 27th Street as there is no left turn lane or traffic signal for lefthand turns. Also, the city hall parking garage will not be accessible from the neighboring alley due to the cones that will be set up to guide cars entering and exiting the garage.
We thank everyone for their patience during this time and will make adjustments to traffic control if necessary.
