The Billings Public Library recently unveiled its new Fixit Bike Repair Station, generously funded by the Friends of the Library. This installation marks another significant step in the library’s commitment to fostering community health and well-being.
Located outside the library and accessible 24/7, the Fixit Bike Repair Station provides tools and resources for cyclists to perform basic repairs and maintenance at any time. The BPL is the first library in Montana to implement this type of resource. In addition to the bike repair station, the library will also begin checking out bike locks for visitors. This initiative aims to encourage more community members to bike to the library, promoting healthier and more sustainable modes of transportation.
“The Fixit Bike Repair Station is a fantastic addition to our library’s resources. We are grateful to the Friends of the Library for their

support and are thrilled to offer this new service downtown. Just as our partnership with Intermountain Health and the Children’s Clinic for the Library Express Lockers has enhanced community access to health and library resources, the bike repair station demonstrates our holistic approach to community wellness.”
Libraries play a vital role in strengthening communities by providing unique resources and opportunities for connection, exploration, learning, and creativity. The Billings Public Library is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents through innovative services, programs, and partnerships that support lifelong learning, foster community connections, and meet the educational, informational, and cultural needs of our community.
