This May, all month long, we are once again putting on our anticipated annual MUSICAL MAY series at the historic Babcock Theatre, and the second film in this year’s series will be Oliver Stone’s excellent 1991 rock drama, THE DOORS, screening Saturday, May 3rd!
Starring the late Val Kilmer as music icon Jim Morrison, THE DOORS is an awesome film that blends documentary style reenactments of the titular band with fully dramatized scenes, both shot with a vintage look resembling that of a 60s home video, giving the film a truly dreamy film that pairs greatly with its upbeat turbulence!
This film follows the reenacted lives of the members of the influential rock band, THE DOORS, through the height of their career in the 1960s. Focusing mostly on the band’s lead singer and composer Jim Morrison, the film takes the viewer on a wild ride as they see THE DOORS going against the societal grain, irritating studios, labels, conservative parents, and cops in the process!
