Harriet the Spy
April 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$9
Announcing next month’s film to play in our Nostalgia Night series at the historic Babcock Theatre! Wednesday, April 16th, we will be playing Bronwen Hughes’ charming 1996 comedy mystery classic, HARRIET THE SPY! This cult classic from Nickelodeon stars Michelle Trachtenberg (of Buffy fame) in a kid detective flick that is completely full of nostalgia for any 90s kid! Feeling a lot like a predecessor to mean girls, this adaptation of Louise Fitzhugh’s children’s book is a wholly entertaining film with a fun style and engaging coming-of-age story that is certain to bring back memories of catching Nick films on cable with you chunky CRT!
Harriet is a sixth grade girl who already believes she has found her calling in life: to become a spy! Pursuing her inquisitive passion, Harriet analytically records suspicious activity of everyone she knows in her private journal. Her private hobby seems harmless enough, but when someone finds the journal and exposes all of Harriet’s private and critical thoughts of her classmates, everyone including her best friends turn against her. With no one on her side, Harriet begins to investigate a plan for revenge!
