Frances Ha
April 24 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
$9
Thursday, April 24th, we are celebrating another Art House staff member’s birthday at Art House Cinema and Pub with a film of their choosing! This time, Kyler Hodik, the Art House manager, is another year older, and he’s celebrating with a screening of one of his favorite films, Noah Baumbach’s 2012 indie classic, FRANCES HA! One of the best dramas and comedies to come out of the 2010s, FRANCES HA is an exceptional story of perseverance, devotion to the craft, and independence in the face of life’s hurdles. Beautifully shot in eye-catching black and white, and accompanied by a great soundtrack as well as an excellent starring performance from Greta Gerwig, FRANCES HA is a real riotous gem, and we are stoked to see that Kyler chose such a cool film! Make sure to wish him a happy birthday when you stop in, too!
Frances is an aspiring dancer who moves to New York City in order to pursue her dreams, despite her lack of professionalism. Apprenticing for a dance company, although not really being a dancer, and not really having an apartment, Frances gets caught up in the whirlwind of New York life as she encounters flighty fair-weather friends, career setbacks, and diminishing fortunes.
