This House of Books: Book Discussion

March 23 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

$15 – $25

Book Discussion: A Room of One’s Own

Someone challenged Virginia Woolf: If women were as capable of producing great literature as well as men, then where in the history of western literature were the great women writers? Why didn’t Shakespeare’s sister produce anything as great as her brother, William? The answer Woolf gives in her 1929 book, A ROOM OF ONE’S OWN, is brilliant.

To celebrate Women’s History Month, This House of Books will host a discussion group featuring Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own. The group will meet over the span of three successive Mondays: March 9, 16, and 23, beginning each evening at 5:30 and concluding at 7:00 PM.

The group will be led by author Dr. Danell Jones, a delightful person and award-winning scholar and specialist in the work of Virginia Woolf. Jones earned her Ph.D. In literature from Columbia University, where her dissertation explored Woolf’s work in relation to World War I.

This event is open to anyone who is interested in exploring the question about great women writers and Woolf’s thoughtful and provocative response. There is a participation fee which includes a copy of the book we will be using.
