Art House: Choose To Include Film
February 17 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
Rocky Mountain College wishes to encourage inclusion within the community and educate all community members alike by providing a timely example on the big screen. We will be showing the film The Peanut Butter Falcon in conjunction with Rocky’s annual Respect Rally, which is scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Fraley Lounge, located inside the Bair Family Student Center on Rocky’s campus.
This event is free and open to the public. Pizza will be provided for those in attendance. MTN/Chevy Raffle Tickets will be available to purchase as part of a state-wide fundraiser for Special Olympics.
PLEASE NOTE: in this film, there are multiple instances of the R-word, “retard(ed),” being used in mean, bullying-like contexts. While we do not want to purposefully cause any discomfort for anyone in attendance, these scenes are purposefully set up in a way to demonstrate the magnitude and impact our words and actions can have on others different from ourselves.
Spread the Word: Inclusion is an engagement campaign to increase inclusion amongst people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. In schools, workplaces, and communities around the world, individuals are taking a pledge to create socially inclusive places to learn, work and live. During our Respect Rally on Wednesday, March 4, we will be asking any and all individuals to take this pledge to be more inclusive through everyday language and actions by physically signing a pledge banner.
